A new data privacy law came into force in the UK on May 25th 2018 - the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The law affects the way we collect, use, store and protect yours and your children’s’ data.
As you are hopefully aware safeguarding and protecting your children is a key priority here at Hague Bar. We already work in accordance with the 1998 Data Protection Act, but we are now in the process of training staff and updating all our policies, processes and documentation in order to comply with the new legislation.
Claire Fisher, ex headteacher at Hayfield Primary, has taken on the role of Data Protection Officer for some of the PEGS schools. For any general GDPR queries Claire can be contacted via email at claire.fisher @me.com.She and Julie Sutton, the GDPR champion on the governing board, recently undertook an inspection of the school and its policies and procedures and their conclusion was
" The school takes the matter of Data Protection seriously and, apart from some minor improvements, are GDPR compliant"
This is really good news for the school and of course for your children. The full inspection checklist, which is a working document, can be found below.
This page will be updated regularly with latest documentation and links to other relevant websites, useful articles, videos etc.
